Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Art 2006 - Call for entries

The University of Minnesota School of Music is proud to present the 2006 Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Art, February 22-26. The festival will be held on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota (USA) and at the Walker Center for Art, Minneapolis. Now in its fourth year, the Spark Festival showcases the newest groundbreaking works of digital music and art. Last year’s festival included innovative works by over one hundred international composers and artists, including featured guest artists Philippe Manoury and DJ Spooky. Leading scholars and technology specialists also presented papers relating to new technology and creativity. Audiences for the concerts, installations, and lectures last year totaled approximately 2,000 people.

 

Contour 2005, 2nd biennial for video art

The second biennial for video art is conceived again as a journey of discovery through the city of Mechelen. It takes the form of a trail passing unique architectural spaces that trigger interaction with the moving image.

 

Göteborg International Biennial

The Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art is now opening for the third time. This year’s curator, Sara Arrhenius, has chosen to break with the image of the biennials as broad surveys of a large group of artists. Instead, twelve artists have been given the chance to develop new projects, or to show several works. In order to create a common ground before the exhibition work, she gathered together artists and writers for a seminar in Gothenburg this past spring.

 

4th Tallinn Applied Art Triennial - Call for entries

At the 4th Tallinn Applied Art Triennial will be exhibited the works of applied art or design that have been specially made relying on the theme of the triennial Two Close Ones.

 

50 Years Documenta 1955-2005

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary, the Kunsthalle Fridericianum is staging a major jubilee exhibition on the multifaceted history of the documenta. The exhibition 50 Jahre / Years documenta 1955 – 2005, curated by Michael Glasmeier, addresses this sometimes contradictory and erratic history from a present-day perspective, choosing a range of approaches and materials. In an endeavour to present as many aspects as possible, the exhibition is divided into five intersecting and complementary sections: an archival chapter, an art history chapter, a site-specific chapter, a film chapter, and a scholarly chapter. It is not a recollective exhibition. It is about dealing productively with an institution that has the task of reflecting each current present.

 

2nd International Video Reporting Award - Call for entries

The 2nd International Video Reporting Award is an international competition specifically geared towards innovative documentary shorts and non-fiction digital films helmed by a single autonomous author.

 

Artvideofestival Ostersund

Östersunds konstvideofestival is an every second year recurring videoart – festival. This years festival will take place in 27 – 30 October at Jämtlands Läns Museum and at the cinema Regina in Östersund, Sweden. A special jury prize of 15 000 skr will be given to the author of the best video.

Images Festival - Call for submissions

UNESCO Digital Arts Award 2005 - Call for participation

Young artists from around the world are invited to take part in this year’s award devoted to the theme of “Cities and creative media”. Organized in collaboration with Art Center Nabi(Seoul, Republic of Korea), the Award would be delivered to non-realized project proposals in order to embrace a wider audience of creators, who have the innovative artistic ideas but not necessarily the means.
