As part of the NeMe project Island of space, NeMe is happy to announce a collaboration with CYENS for the presentation of the researchers involved.

On Tuesday, 2 November 2021, at 10:30am, CYENS in collaboration with NeMe present a workshop by Jeremy Lee demonstrating LiDar scanning and photogrammetry. Participants will have the opportunity to explore various file types and software used within LiDar scanning. The workshop will deliver an overview of the different approaches in working within the field by presenting different project examples. During the workshop participants will be able to experiment and manipulate data and interact with numerous materials.

On the same day and venue, at 5:30pm the two organisations will present a lecture by Rose Butler, discussing current research and demonstrating methods of art practice. The lecture will showcase various examples of selected video installations and multi screen works, alongside digital shorts and photography.

Bios

Rose Butler is an artist, researcher and senior lecturer of Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University, UK. She uses adapted technology and custom built software alongside early cameras and analogue technique to make interactive installations, single and multi-screen videos or large-scale photographs. Rose is interested in the physical and digital, visible but also invisible barriers that keep people alienated or impose power dynamics. Recent doctoral study considered new UK surveillance legislation (2016) through the use of and research into hidden cameras at the Stasi Film and Video Archives, Berlin. Rose is commencing new work in Cyprus in collaboration with Jeremy Lee and Kypros Kyprianou and in partnership with NeMe, Limassol. Rose will present selected works that introduce her current project.

Jeremy Lee is an artist researcher and principal lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University. He originally trained in Fine Art painting at Cardiff University and then went on to complete a masters in Animation and Visual Effects at the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) Bournemouth. As a digital artist he integrates Fine Art practice with freelance and industrial work alongside teaching and lecturing in digital media.
