MadCat seeks provocative and visionary films and videos directed or co-directed by women. Films can be of any length or genre and produced ANY year. MadCat is committed to showcasing work that challenges the use of sound and image and explores notions of visual story telling. All subjects/topics will be considered.

 

theARTDISK, DVD magazine, call for ART TRAILERS.

Art Trailers showcases a selection of moving image territory, including Video Art, Film, Performance, Installation, etc. This will be comprised of works by national, international, emerging and established artists. The final selection will consist of 25 works at: 30 seconds and 25 works at 1 minute.

Sculpture by the Sea - 2006 Call

All types, forms and sizes of sculpture in all materials are eligible for entry to Sculpture by the Sea. The exhibition site can accommodate the largest to the smallest sculpture, however when submitting works artists are required to consider safety, ease of installation and removal, the environment and the ability of their work to withstand sun, extremely strong wind, rain, salt spray and playful children.

 

ENTER - EXPLORATIONS IN NEW TECHNOLOGY ART

Manifesta 6 March news

We are pleased to report that the open call for applications to the Manifesta 6 School resulted in an overwhelming response, with more than 750 applications submitted by artists, writers, filmmakers and cultural producers from nearly 40 countries on all continents. The applicants include a large segment of rather accomplished young art professionals therefore the selection process will be very competitive. The selections are already in progress and the finalists will be contacted by the end of March.

The festival is open to all new, innovative, personal, experimental, radical, subversive etc. Work (film, video, new media) of all genres and lengths, preferably from outside the mainstream, whether it was made on shoe string budget, or is a studio release.

Cybersonica is London’s annual festival of music, sound, art and technology. Cybersonica is organised by Cybersalon, currently artists in residence at the Science Museum’s Dana Centre.

Site Santa Fe, Sixth International Biennial

Intensity, experimentation, and visceral presence are the hallmarks of the thirteen significant one-person installations that constitute SITE Santa Fe’s Sixth International Biennial. Curator Klaus Ottmann’s exhibition, entitled Still Points of the Turning World, both concentrates and amplifies these singular works, empowering them to speak for themselves without the common filter of a prescriptive curatorial theme. As Ottmann explains, “I want this Biennial to be about the artists, not about the curator.”

 

European Art Symposium in Saxony

European Art Symposium will take place in Saxony under the name “ Network -Art and Landscape”. Asked are up to 30 artists, which will make sculptures of Saxon stone. The sculptures will be exhibited in Frauenstein (Eastern Ore Mountains – Osterzgebirge) and Mutzschen (region of the valley of the river Mulde) during the Days of Artistic Activities from 1st to 9th of July 2006.

 

2nd PixelDance Video Art Festival

The In Flux Art group is organizing the 2nd Video Art Festival PixelDance, which will take place in Thessaloniki, in May 2006.
