Prix Ars Electronica 2006: The Results

3,177 entries from 71 countries-the Prix Ars Electronica attracted a record number of submissions once again this year. A total of ?117,500 in prize money is being awarded to the winners.

ARCO 2007 - Call for Galleries

The call for entries for participation in ARCO’07 is now open. The International Contemporary Art Fair, organised by IFEMA, will be held in Madrid between 15 and 19 February 2007.

 

The Manifesta Decade

Roomade and the International Foundation Manifesta are pleased to announce the publication The Manifesta Decade: Debates on Contemporary Art Exhibitions and Biennials in Post- Wall Europe. This mutual publication is a result of a three years collaboration between Roomade and The International Foundation and includes essays, critical debates and a view of the historical material from the Manifesta archives, the public accessible archives at Manifesta at Home in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Periferic 7

The seventh edition of Periferic Biennial is focussing on different aspects of socio-political and cultural context of Iasi and Romania. The project is resulting in a series of exhibitions, opened in Iasi on May 12, 2006.

PRIX MARCEL DUCHAMP 2005

Claude Closky is the fifth winner of the Prix Marcel Duchamp, and like Thomas Hirschhorn, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Mathieu Mercier and Carole Benzaken before him, he has been invited to create a work to be shown at the Centre Pompidou. His Manège can be seen in Espace 315 from 17 May to 31 July 2006.

 

23rd Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival 2006

The Kassel Documentary and Video Festival takes place annually since 1982 and is organised by the Filmladen Kassel e.V. The festival presents contemporary documentary films and videos, the media art exhibition MONITORING, a Festival Lounge for Live Visuals and the interfiction symposium.

 

Media Art Friesland Festival 2006

The Media Art Friesland Festival 2006, which takes place from September the 13th till October the 1st, is the tenth edition of the festival. This anniversary will be celebrated with a special and large programme. Recent work from all over the world will be shown in film and video screenings, presentations, exhibitions, conferences and performances.

Submissions for the 5th Hull International Short Film Festival taking place 27 September to 1 October 2006 are now open. The festival has a number of awards, is free to enter and accepts entries of fiction, documentary, animation and experimental work.

 

1st Athens Biennial

The Athens Biennial aims to be a constant mechanism for the designation and the critical engagement of artistic production, as well as a forum of discussion and exchange with the international scene. For Deutsche Bank, art is a catalyst for communication, and it contributes to the bank’s cosmopolitan corporate culture. The collaboration with Deutsche Bank enhances the international scope of the Athens Biennial and secures support for its ambitious projects.

 

Wigget.net call for works

Wigged Productions in collaboration with curator Humberto Ramirez is seeking Web-based artists working in video, animation and netart to contribute projects for an online exhibition addressing the concept of “EXTRAPOLATIONS” We are particularly interested in works situated outside of mainstream visual strategies, using anachronism, simulacra, radical denial, historical revision, nonlinear narratives, humor etc. The idea of critique as an oblique activity, tangential and tactical is central to this project.
