Impure Cinema: Hybrid Works Rupturing Media's Boundaries

Studio 27, a San Francisco screening series that showcases experimental media, is looking for short videos and films for our next program, scheduled for August 2007. This show will focus on hybrid media.

In the Sonoran desert, the scorching heat of the summer is interrupted by the monsoons, a torrential downpour of rain which fills the dry stream-beds as well as city streets. A flash flood, gone as fast as it came.

At its most basic, the media of Video Art are light and time. A flash is a short burst of light. Flood is lighting that lasts longer, filling a space. The FlashFlood Video Art Festival, like the summer monsoon, fills the city and then disappears, leaving everything more alive. This Festival will bring the best work of international video artists together for one long evening of viewing.

 

SHARE PRIZE 2008

The Piemonte Share Festival announces the second edition of the Share Prize 2008 for digital art.
The competition jury will award a prize of EURO 2,500.00 to the work (published or unpublished) which best represents experimentation between arts and new technologies. The candidates for the prize (a short list of a maximum of 6 competitors) will be guests at the 4th edition of the Share Festival, taking place in Turin March 2008 at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti, Turin. In order to be declared winner of the prize, every artist has to take part in the 4th edition of Share Festival, by preparing his or her work of art, to be properly evaluated by jury and public.

VIDEOLOGIA takes place every year in Volgograd (Russia), the forth festival will start on November 8, 2007.

This year, the International Short Film Festival ‘interfilm’ takes place for the 23rd time, a veritable meeting place for the international short film and video scenes. The curating of Internet-based art on the Internet is a multifaceted communication-process between Internet-users with all kinds of different backgrounds regarding the content. Along with the changing conditions of production and reception of art on the Internet came new possibilities of curation which deserve study. [CC] “circulating contexts—curating media/net/art” is a series of experimental long-term research projects hosted by the Vienna-based organisation CONT3XT.NET, investigating current tendencies in the curation of (New)Media and Internet Art. For the catalogue which will be presented in October 2007 in Vienna as well as online, we currently seek contributions to the following sub-projects.

Istanbul Biennial 10: Nightcomers

Nightcomers is one of the night programme projects of the 10th International Istanbul Biennial, perhaps the most somnambulist.
