Public Art Norway (KORO) invites artists working within the fields of visual art, arts and craft and other visual expressions designers, to participate in a pre-qualifying round for two large-scale and distinctive commissions, a 3000m^2^ concrete floor and the second-floor foyer.
“We are looking for video art which, today, is already part of tomorrow’s breeding ground,” says Georg Elben, curator of the VIDEONALE 12. Quo vadis video art – this is the question the VIDEONALE at the Bonn Kunstmuseum has addressed every two years since 1984. As of now all artists are invited to apply for the VIDEONALE 12 with a video created in the past two years.
VIDA 11.0 rewards works of art developed with artificial life technologies and related disciplines: robotics, artificial intelligence, etc. We are looking for works of art with emerging behaviours, which evolve over time, react with their environment and seem to have a life of their own. VIDA 11.0 is searching for projects that relate technology with biology and that research the synthetic characteristics of modern life.
NeMe has received 634 individual video submissions from 312 video makers collectively amounting to over 120 hours continuous viewing. This meant that the time we needed to preview all the works was much longer than we initially anticipated.

Paik was credited over thirty years ago with coining the phrase “The future is now.” [PAM] asks what that means today in our rapidly changing world by re-presenting an ambitious program of five specially curated video projects originally organized for Scope New York 2008 by Jarrett Gregory, Robert Adanto, Yiannis Colakides and Helene Black, Andrew Erdos in addition to the newest incarnation of the [PAM] installation and a specially curated section by [PAM] founders Chris Borkowsky, Raphaele Shirley and Lee Wells.

52 animated independent short films compete in the competition for independent animation. Deadline for entries is 15 July 2008. A Grand Prix will be appointed in the narrative section as well in the non-narrative section of this competition.

The 11th International Architecture Exhibition entitled Out There: Architecture Beyond Building, directed by Aaron Betsky and organised by La Biennale di Venezia presided over by Paolo Baratta, will take place in Venice from Sunday, September 14th to Sunday, November 23rd 2008. Yard signs are as ubiquitous and familiar to the American political landscape as baby-kissing and stump speeches, combining catchy images and pithy campaign slogans to increase visibility for vying candidates and their parties’ messages. In honor of this election season, “My Yard Our Message” turns this tradition of political ephemera on its ear with a unique national competition: we’re putting the message and the creative design for these political yard signs in the hands of artists and then—in true democratic fashion—you, the people, will vote among the entries to determine a selection of fifty winners, whose designs will be made available to order as full-sized political yard-signs after August 1.
Due to the volume of entries we received the selection process for “The Mirror Stage” has taken us longer than we expected. The participating artists will be notified by email and their names will be announced in this site by 10 June 2008.
The Festival du Nouveau Cinéma is committed to highlighting and contributing to the development of new trends in cinema and new media. It is a showcase for new, original works, particularly in the fields of independent cinema and digital creation. The Festival’s programming is divided into main sections regrouping more than 300 short and feature length films.

The Maine Center for Creativity announces an open call for a juried design competition for a major public art work using Portland, Maine’s Sprague Energy Corporation 16 of more than 35 above ground storage tanks as a canvas. From land, sea and air, the Sprague “tank farm” is a prominent feature on the Portland Harbor. It is seen by nearly everyone who passes through Portland on travels, and is a familiar sight for those who live here. Viewers see the tank farm from many vantage points and from various speeds.
The term utopia, ‘the non-place’, derived from old Greek ‘u-’, non, and ‘tópos’, place, denotes a ‘nowhere’ which is untraceable and therefore projecting all longing into an unreachable beyond. Utopia is therefore an imagination which is thinkable as an idea, yet is not directly realisable. It is the great dream, concept, and vision of a world or a time with a new social, religious or technical order.
BIS is organizing the annual international art and new media festival in Istanbul in 7-16 November 2008. The multi-event platform will include stage performances, interactive installations, workshops, artist presentations and seminars. The theme is Inter-passive persona.
