At a time of new government leadership committed to investing in the United States’ infrastructure, architects, engineers, and artists should propose new directions for transportation, energy, and agriculture at a continental scale. In this spirit, no visionary dimension is too large, no inventive proposal too ambitious to consider. Projects designed for countries other than the United States should be generalized enough to be applicable.

Residency position requirements: The scope of the residency must relate to researching the Athens contemporary art scene.
The resident will be required to follow a demanding programme, which will include studio visits, conversations with artists, curators, critics and academics, collectors, museum directors, and other art professionals, as well as visits to exhibitions and portfolio examinations. He/she will also be expected to fully engage with the local scene, acquiring an expertise in local artists that may be used in future projects. He/she will also be required to give lectures about former and current projects, participate in seminars with various partners of the Athens Biennale.

The Foundation of Lower Saxony will award three six-months work stipends (€10.000 each) from July to December 2009 at the Edith-Russ-Site for Media Art in Oldenburg. The announcement is addressed to artists working in New Media. There are no age limitations. Submitted project proposals will be reviewed by an international jury. A minimum residency of one month is required. The artists will be integrated into the institution’s activities.

Rhizome is pleased to announce that the 2010 Commissions cycle is now open. Founded in 2001, the Rhizome Commissions Program is designed to support emerging artists with financial and institutional resources. In the seventh year of funding for the Program, Rhizome will award grants, with amounts ranging from $1000 to $5000, for the creation of significant works of new media art. Artists who receive a commission will also be invited to speak at Rhizome’s affiliate, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, and to archive their work in the ArtBase, a comprehensive online art collection.
FINISHING FUNDS provides media and new media artists with grants up to $2,500 to help with the completion of diverse and innovative moving-image and sonic art projects, and works for the Web and new technologies. The 7th Mercosul Biennial is already under construction. The exhibitions are due to take place in Porto Alegre from September to November 2009, but organisation of many activities will start soon, such as the Education Programme of actions with schools, teachers and students, open public lectures, debate cycles and meetings with young artists. These actions been conceived to involve the public in a continuous process of access and dialogue, allowing the Biennial to make positive contributions to the community which grow with each edition.
