The ABoT project : Artist Competition and Mobile Museum
To create more public awareness for the book as an independent genre of art production, the EU-funded project “Artists’ Books on Tour – Artist Competition and Mobile Museum” was launched in June 2010 by the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art (Vienna) with the MGLC – International Centre of Graphic Arts (Ljubljana) and the UPM – Museum of Decorative Arts (Prague). Cyprus Film Days 2011
The Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture announces that the 9th CYPRUS FILM DAYS – International Film Festival 2011, co-organised with the Rialto theatre has been upgraded to an international competition festival. The festival, which is being held for the 9th time this year, will host an international competition section titled “Glocal Images” in which film-makers from around the globe and Cyprus are invited to submit their films.

57th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen
Effective immediately, the 57th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is inviting filmmakers from around the world to submit new works for the 2011 competitions. Regardless of genre or format, Oberhausen is seeking unusual film languages, works that change our ways of seeing things. The Festival will present five competitions: International, German, Children’s and Youth Films, Films from NRW and the MuVi Award for the best German music video, with its own set of regulations.

XVIth German International Exhibition Of Graphic Art
The year 2011 will mark the 16th German International Exhibition of Graphic Art, which was founded in 1970 and is now held triennially. It aims to support contemporary graphic arts. The exhibition is organized by the Kunstverein zu Frechen e.V, in cooperation with the town of Frechen.

Mash-ups
Contemporary art has seen a marked increase in practices that defy traditional descriptions of media. Categories like painting, drawing, sculpture and photography no longer suffice to describe the full range of processes and forms that artists engage. Even relatively newer media categories like conceptual art, video art and performance art cannot encompass what many artists today do in their studios and in the streets. Many artists approach subject matter conceptually or thematically, choosing materials, processes and forms that resonate with a particular theme, while others complicate formal concerns directly by working through and across many media at once, or sequentially, arriving at products that resist easy categorization.
