Artcity 2005 - Call for Submissions

Artcity Festival is a celebration of contemporary visual art, architecture and design, held every September in Calgary, Canada. Artcity opens possibilities for conversations, debates and realizations about how and what artists, architects and designers do and how they see and shape the world around us. In 2005, Artcity Festival will explore the ideas and concepts associated with the term “Trans”. The Visual Arts Programming Committee invites submissions for artworks which comply with this year’s theme TRANS.

 

Accidental Meetings

The exhibition attempts an approach to the contemporary reality of Cypriot Visual Arts. At the same time, it aspires to act as a meeting platform for 65 significant Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot artists, both older but mainly younger, who, in the thirty years which have elapsed, have managed through their work to create a multifaceted mosaic constituting the identity of cypriot Contemporary Art.

ISEA2006 Call for proposals

This is an invitation by the ISEA2006 Symposium and ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge to groups and individuals to submit proposals for an installation of augmented furniture, audio/video/software installations and interactive artwork for The C4F3 (The Cafe) during the ISEA2006/ZeroOne from August 5-13, 2006. The goal of The C4F3 is to create an active ambient space of augmented everyday objects that is not just an art gallery, a restaurant, or a chill space, but a new kind of project space where the whole environment has been rethought in terms of the capabilities of current technology. This Call for Proposals is an invitation to artists, designers and technologists to propose existing work for exhibition and/or use within the café and new projects that support this goal.

 

Lefteris Olympios' Apokathilosi by Antonis Danos

The latest exhibition (Larnaca, April 2005) of works by Cypriot artist Lefteris Olympios consists mainly of six large canvases. These pictures, made between 1993 and 1994, and originally arranged as two triptychs, were part of the Apokathilosi (Deposition) group, but were not included in the original exhibition of the works in Athens, in 1995.

Auction to benefit CAE Defense Fund is overwhelming success

On Sunday April 17, an art auction to benefit the CAE Defense Fund raised $167,700. The auction, held at Paula Cooper Gallery in New York City, featured over fifty artists who donated their work to the cause.

 

Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival - Call for entries

This year, the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival will take place from November 8th to 13th, 2005. The festival presents current documentary films and videos, the media art exhibition MONITORING, as well as the interfiction symposium. VideoDance - Call for entries
