Overview

A Sea Change: Political, Natural, and Cultural Ecologies of the Mediterranean encapsulates the interdisciplinary and collaborative research outcomes of the co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme A Sea Change (2022-2024). Through the partnership of four organisations from Croatia, Greece, Cyprus, and Spain, the project explored critical themes around the blue economy in the Mediterranean region by merging environmental science, arts, and cultural research. The book highlights a multifaceted approach involving workshops, residencies, exhibitions, and public programs aimed at addressing urgent environmental challenges such as marine biodiversity loss, pollution, climate change, and social issues like labour exploitation in fisheries. It advocates for bridging art and science to foster creative innovation, raise awareness, and promote sustainable, inclusive practices that respond to the region's ecological crises and geopolitical complexities.
