In Transition Russia 2008

Overview

The In Transition Russia 2008 exhibition was part of an international contemporary art project addressing themes of displacement, migration, cultural identity, and global flux through diverse artistic practices. The event brought together over 125 artists from 43 countries, highlighting transitional identities and the complexities of socio-political change in a rapidly evolving world.

In Transition Russia 2008 was a collaboration between NeMe and the National Centre for Contemporary Art (NCCA) in Ekaterinburg and Moscow, Russia. It reflects on the phenomena of displacement and cultural transition through multimedia artworks, installations, and video art, accompanied by an international conference and a video program titled Drift.

The catalogue of the exhibition intricately weaves the dynamic landscape of contemporary international socio-political and cultural shifts and focuses on the flow of ideas, migration, and identity in a world where borders increasingly fade, emphasising cooperation and shared experiences across nations, transcending traditional boundaries of nationality and genre.
