NeMe on YouTube

For numerous years we were resisting uploading to YouTube and becoming part of its invasive algorithms. These are the reasons we recently created our channel.

After Google, YouTube is the 2nd largest and most used search engine. This makes it as one of the best ways to communicate to a wide audience.

Google’s new algorithm released in August 2020, favours its own ecosystem, which made our Vimeo feed less visible in its search results.

Vimeo’s new Terms of Service, stipulates that videos are deleted, once membership stops. This makes archiving on Vimeo, unsustainable for non-profit, poorly funded NGOs.

YouTube is a more appropriate platform for disseminating cheaply produced videos such as ours that focus on documentation and the communication of ideas, rather than their high production values.

YouTube’s algorithms increase the chances of a returning audience.

Finally we would like to say that we have embarked the YouTube boat without a marketing strategy. We just finished uploading most our videos, but our Vimeo channel will still remain our platform of choice for as long as we can afford it.
