Cottesloe Beach will be transformed into a magnificent outdoor sculpture gallery from 17-28 March 2005 with the new exhibition Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe.
The Indian Ocean will be a backdrop to some 40 sculptures set along the beautiful coastal environment in a major free to the public event expected to attract thousands.
The exhibition of works by leading and emerging Western Australian sculptors, including Geoffrey Drake-Brockman, Jennifer Cochrane, Kevin Draper, Judith Forrest, Ron Gomboc, Lorenna Grant and Richie Kuhaupt will also include works by interstate and international sculptors such as Ron Robertson-Swann OAM (NSW), Keizo Ushio (Japan) and Professor Siu Jianguo (China).
Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe is offering the $10,000 Allens Arthur Robinson WA Sculptor's Scholarship which will be given to an artist selected by the Curatorial Panel composed of three individuals well known for their professional expertise and involvement in Western Australian art: Belinda Cobby, Anne Meredith Wylie and John Stringer.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their favourite sculpture through the Allens Arthur Robinson People's Choice Prize.
Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe is the sister exhibition of the internationally popular Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi which has been staged annually for eight years and voted Sydney's best art exhibition. Sculpture by the Sea Founding Director David Handley says he is thrilled to be bringing the exhibition concept to Australia's West Coast: "Since Sculpture by the Sea began, we have had numerous requests to bring the exhibition to new locations around Australia. It was not until we saw the spectacular setting of Cottesloe Beach that we knew we had found the perfect place."
