Titled 10,000 Lives, the Biennale will develop as a sprawling investigation of the relationships that bind people to images and images to people. With works by more than100 artists, realized between 1901 and 2010, as well as several new commissions, the exhibition will be configured as a temporary museum in which both artworks and cultural artifacts are brought together to compose a idiosyncratic catalogue of figures and icons, faces and masks, idols and dolls.

Ars Electronica 2010 - repair
There’s no time left for warnings. We’re in it up to our necks right now – in the climate crisis, Surveillance Society, the bankruptcy of the financial sector … We’ve passed the points of no return. The dramatic consequences are looming on the horizon today. And there’s no excuse for our lethargy since we already possess ideas, tools and techniques to initiate a change of course. We just have to take action! Roll up our sleeves and get to work on a job that can no longer be avoided. We have to mend our ways and get things moving in the right direction.
Taipei Biennial 2010
What is it that sets an art biennial apart from other official events. To some, a biennial is a matter of a simple working equation. “e-flux announcement + (budget x floorspace / number of artists)”. To many others, the distinctive feature lies in the investigatory options, in the possibility of creating a situation that is more ambivalent and tentative than others. With the latter premise in mind, the Taipei Biennial 2010 will be restructuring the traditional format along the following lines.
Media City Seoul 2010
Media City Seoul announces the sixth edition of the biennial under the title Trust. To connect with the rest of the world, we invest a certain amount of trust in various relations. Trust is by default an ambiguous notion, it is one grounded in good faith as much as in doubt. As individuals we not only have these relations to our fellow citizens, but also increasingly with modes of connection. With proliferating forms of media, information comes to us in many guises, and the message is more and more opaque; marketing poses as friendship, solitude as community, populism as democracy.
29th Bienal de São Paulo
The 29th Bienal de São Paulo is anchored on the notion that it is impossible to separate art from politics. Such impossibility is expressed in the fact that art, through ways of its own, is capable of blocking the sensorial coordinates through which we understand and inhabit the world by bringing into it themes and attitudes that did not previously fit in, thus making it different and wider.
Bang.Lab / EDT Update
In the past few weeks, a number of developments have occurred in relation to the art/research practices of bang lab and Electronic Disturbance Theater (EDT), which we wish to share with the public in accordance with our long history of radical transparency.
ZER01 Biennial 2010
The future is not about what’s next; it’s about what we can build to ensure that what’s next matters. How can we, as resourceful, innovative, and knowledgeable local and global citizens build and participate in a desirable future in the face of global climate change, economic meltdown, political instability, and cultural divisiveness?
