Transitions Dance Company was founded by Bonnie Bird (1914-1995), and is the UK’s leading graduate dance company set up to bridge the gap between education and professional training and is currently led by David Waring.
Each year the company of 10-12 dancers work with 3 choreographers to create 3 new, fresh and unique pieces of dance (to be toured as part of the Transitions repertory) and 1 research artist (to develop ideas experimentally, using and collaborating with the dancers). This allows the company to gain an insight in to the creative process of each artist. Laban aims to find artists, who show an intelligence, an understanding of their craft, a commitment to experimentation and who have strong conceptual ideas.
We are currently looking for artists from all genres (film artists, visual artists, photographers, designers, sculptors) to work with the company on a 3-5 week research project during the academic year 2009/2010. Our objective is to foster the value of research in an interdisciplinary project allowing deeper exploration, collaboration and exchange.
Anyone applying should have at least 3 years professional experience in their art form.
To apply please submit a CV plus a 500 word proposal detailing your research idea by 9 January 2009 to Lisa Scott, Administrative Manager – l.scott@laban.org
