ISFF 2007 Conditions of Participation

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Each short film must be entered for one of the competitions. However, should the need arise, the selection committees reserve the right to assign it to another competition or special programme.

The running time of films entered for the competitions (except for the Three-Minute Quickie) should not exceed 20 minutes and should not be produced before 2006. Exceptions are possible.

2. ENTRY PROCEDURE / DEADLINE

The entry form with all the required information, accompanied by a preview copy, needs to reach the ShortFilmAgency by 15 February 2007. The deadline for the “Three-Minute Quickie” is 1 April 2007. Please use a separate entry form for each film submitted (the form may be copied). All sections of the form must be filled in. Stills from the film should also be enclosed.

3. PREVIEW COPY

If possible, a VHS video copy should be submitted for preview purposes (Standards: PAL, NTSC). Other video formats (S-VHS, Betacam SP PAL, DVD, Mini DV PAL or DV Cam PAL) and film prints will also be accepted. If the original language of the film is neither English nor German, the preview copy should be subtitled in one of these two languages. Otherwise an English or German dialogue list should be sent with the preview copy.

4. NOTIFICATION

All film-makers whose work has been accepted will be notified by mid-May 2007, all others (only by email!) by the end of May. Around then, our website will also inform about the status of the submissions. Please refrain from enquiring by telephone.

5. SCREENING COPY

For screening purposes only the following film and video formats will be accepted: Film: Super 8, 16mm and 35mm; Video: VHS, S-VHS, DVD, Mini DV PAL, DV Cam PAL and Betacam SP PAL. If the original version of the film or video is in a language other than English or German, the film should (if possible) be subtitled in English.

6. MAILING ADDRESS

Please send your preview and screening copies to:

Int. KurzFilmFestival Hamburg – Friedensallee 7 – 22765 Hamburg – Germany

7. DISPATCH

Dispatch inside Germany or from abroad: By mail or courier. All deliveries from outside the European Union must be marked with the phrase “no commercial value – for cultural purposes only”. With screening copies from countries outside the European Union, please include a “pro forma invoice” with a print value of less than US $25 in total! Unfortunately we are unable to accept packages which do not have the full postage required. Please do not send films by air freight!

8. DISPATCH COSTS

The applicant is responsible for the costs of sending the viewing and screening copies to the festival. The festival covers the costs of returning/forwarding screening copies.

9. RETURN DISPATCH

All screening copies will be sent back to the applicant as soon as possible after the festival. Please note: Preview copies will not be returned, but stored in the ShortFilmAgency’s archive.
