Norwich International Animation Festival is now open for entries. If you haven’t received an entry form, sign up to our postal mailing list now to receive one – or download a copy from our website.
The competition is free to enter, and is open to films of any length, from filmmakers in any country. This year’s submission deadline is 16 June.

Cash prize for Best Student Film

For the first time, Norwich International Animation Festival will offer a cash prize for the winning film of one of its competition categories. In a move to align the festival with what is regarded as standard practice in most mainland European events yet is still rare amongst UK festivals, the recipient of the award for Best Student Film will receive a cash award of 1,500 EUR in addition to the unique festival trophy awarded to all winning directors.

Festival 2006

Last year’s festival recorded over 6,800 admissions and included more than 170 films. To meet demand, for 2006, the festival will grow to two main cinema venues and several other satellite / performance venues, to include more special programmes and a wider selection for its Out of Competition selection. Expect more… from 18 – 21 October 2006.

Extending the Image : animate! 02-05

Norwich Gallery, St George’s Street, Norwich
www.norwichgallery.co.uk/

Join us in Norwich for a special programme of recent animate! commissions… a journey into into fresh narrative territories and visual forms way beyond the frame-by-frame confines of conventional animation. animate! is also currently open for submissions, and the animate! team will be on hand to answer questions about submitting your proposals.

The event will be accompanied by a networking opportunity to launch a new filmmakers collective (Norwich International Animation Festival in collaboration with Norwich Gallery) designed to support the development of the moving image in the Eastern Region. It’s open to anyone, and will lead to a series of bi-monthly events to maintain and develop connections across the region – just turn up at 6pm if you’d like to take part.
Go to www.animateonline.org/editorial/events/ for more information about the animate! programme.

We are currently seeking sponsors for this year’s festival. Opportunities for both cash and in-kind partnerships exist at several levels, offering a range of benefits.
