First biennial of new visual art performance in New York city.

PERFORMA05, the first biennial of new visual art performance launches on November 3 in New York City and opens a three-week program of multidisciplinary events and live performances including ten major new works. PERFORMA05 features the work of more than 90 artists at some thirty venues throughout the city and is organized under the artistic direction of its founder RoseLee Goldberg.

In celebration of the first ever performance biennial in New York, PERFORMA05 will open with a special benefit on November 3rd at the Stephan Weiss Studio that will feature the premier of Jesper Just’s "True Love is Yet to Come." Commissioned by PERFORMA, Just’s "True Love" is a rumination on male emotions and involves a 3-D projection system that allows a live singer to interact with animated life-size and life-like projections the Finnish Screaming Men’s Choir, the sets and special effects. The evening will include a private dinner hosted by Donna Karan, co-hosted by Cindy Sherman, Isaac Julien, Jeanne Greenberg, and Stephanie French. PERFORMA05 will run from November 3-21, 2005 and present a full program of performances, special exhibitions, events, symposia and film screenings.
