To get involved in the Journalist Award 2009, you can submit a journalistic item related to one of the five categories:
- Award for Printed Articles
- Written articles published in a publication, newspaper or magazine whether in its printed or online version
- Award for Blogs
- Blog posts published online on cross-cultural issues by journalists and bloggers
- Award for Radio Productions
- Radio items produced by journalists
- Award for Television Productions
- Television programmes presented or produced by journalists
- Special Recognition for Conflict Reporting
- Written articles, radio or television items produced on a conflict or war in the region
