Sculptors from Germany and other EU Member States are invited to apply.
European Art Symposium will take place in Saxony under the name " Network -Art and Landscape". Asked are up to 30 artists, which will make sculptures of Saxon stone. The sculptures will be exhibited in Frauenstein (Eastern Ore Mountains – Osterzgebirge) and Mutzschen (region of the valley of the river Mulde) during the Days of Artistic Activities from 1st to 9th of July 2006.

Places for working with sandstone are the following Artist’s Houses:

Künstlerhaus Land Art (Vogtland Region)
Alte Feuerwache Loschwitz (Dresden)

Künstlerhaus "Kunst + Bau" (Dresden)
Insel e. V. (Frauenstein)

Applicants for the "European Art Symposium" are asked to provide an application in written form, copies of own works (fotos, drawings), an artistic curriculum vitae and a first draft of the planned work (A4). The preferred type of stone should also be indicated.

The stone (sandstone from Saxon Swizzerland, porphyry from Rochlitz or serpentine from Zöblitz) will be provided by the organizers (unprocessed stones up to 2 tons or blocks of. 0.60 × 0.60 ×1.80 m).

The artists have to use their own tools.

The artists will support with the works created during the European Art Symposium the establishment of an Artistic Event Trail in Fraunstein or of the Sculpture Park in Mutzschen in form of permanent loans. The further utilization of the sculptures is subject to the intellectual property rights.

A catalogue of the European Art Symposium will be brought out free of charge.

The organizer is in charge of the promotion of the European Art Symposium and of the satellite programs and their financing. These activities are aimed at the increase of the level of recognition of the artists and the towns Fraunstein and Mutzschen and also at cross-linking of European artistic activities.

The participating artists receive a scholarship of 1.500 Euro. A selection of accommodations (free of charge) will be offered.

This project is a joint undertaking of the Leader+ Regions "Eastern Ore Mountains" and "Saxon Two River Land". The advertisement is made under reserve of the approval of the corresponding project funding.
