Those eligible for selection may work in any medium and me of any nationality, but they must be 35 or under and UK-based. A combination of a public vote and the views of the judges will decide which of these contemporary artists receives the £20,000 overall award to be announced at the ICA on 2 May 2006.
Blood ‘n’ Feathers (Jo Robertson and Lucy Stein), Pablo Bronstein, Stefan Brüggemann, Richard Hughes, Flávia Müller Medeiros, Seb Patane, Olivia Plender, Simon Popper, Jemie Shovlin, Daniel Sinsel, Matt Stokes, Sue Tompkins and Bedwyr Williams.
Beck’s Futures has always called upon the insight and experience of respected artists in the selection process. For 2006 the panel is an all-artist affair bringing together Jake and Dinos Chapman, Martin creed, Cornelia Parker, Yinka Shonibare MBE, and Gillian Wearing. And of course there is you. For the first time, the public vote will be treated as a single ‘block’ vote so you will be the seventh ‘voice’ alongside the official judges for 2006.
