Audio Art - Call for Artists

http://www.neme.org/blog/audio-art-call-for-artists

Audio Speaker Driver Works of Art

Artists and works incorporating audio speaker drivers are being sought for group exhibitions. Work that qualifies includes multimedia art works with attached or implanted audio speaker drivers that can be used with audio equipment in order that the ‘art plays the sounds of CDs, records, and digital audio’. The material and form of submissions is open, requiring only one or more audio speaker drivers within the work.

The immediate platform for exhibition of the group show is online and show cased in our downtown Niagara Falls, Canada gallery. During the Fall 2005, all contributing artists will be invited to participate, display, and sell their work in a formal gallery environment and reception in an exhibition in Toronto. There are no entrance fees but those incurred in respect to commission percentage of the hosting venues. On request, artists will be assisted with installing audio speaker drivers into their work. Submissions are requested to be entered by the closing of August 2005.

They are primarily looking for art with audio speaker drivers, attached or implanted, that can be plugged into stereos in order that the ‘art plays the sounds of CDs, records and digital audio’. The format and forum of submissions of art with audio speakers is open, relating to material and form, requiring only one or more audio speakers within the work.

The submissions are being show cased very shortly in the Niagara Falls Gallery. Later works will be shown in an exhibition in Toronto during the Fall in 2005, where all contributing artists will be invited to participate, display, and sell their work in a formal gallery environment and reception.
The space in Niagara is a 4’×100’ retail space, Downtown Niagara Falls, open by appointment to the public.
No application for the group show is necessary. They are asking that artists submitting work also include a photo(s), brief description(s), and price(s) of the piece(s) to put online and for exhibition.

As for fees, there are no costs to put your work online, on their site. Again, simply a submission of detail as mentioned previously. As for the gallery, a 5% commission (of your asking price) is asked and that you cover the cost and arrangements of transportation/shipping of your work. As for the Toronto exhibit in the fall, there will be similar costs of commission percentage and transportation/shipping arrangements; however, an additional gallery rental fee will likely be required. The gallery rental fee for the fall show will be based on the fiscal requirements of the gallery that they arrange with, divided between the number of artists and the number of works that are submitted.

Artists can be assisted with installing audio speakers into their work on request (in respect to acquiring ‘raw speaker drivers’, installing and wiring, as well as, technical specifications concerning what to look for in speaker qualities, etc., please, feel free to ask).
Submissions are requested to be entered by the closing of August 2005.
